Happy 2010!

I know it's been awhile and I've been super lazy... but Matt and I made a New Years resolution to cook more and take out less. It was getting pretty bad...
So, as a tribute (and hopefully motivator) to cook dinner more often, I'm going to try and blog our meals!

Oven-Roasted Cod with Fingerlings and Salad


Cod Fillet: oven-roasted seasoned with salt, pepper, and Old Bay
Fingerling Potatoes: oven-roasted in browned butter, seasoned with salt and pepper
Salad: cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, avocado, dill, forgot the feta... oops!
Salad Dressing: Spanish olive oil and sherry vinegar
Wine Pairing: Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc 2008, New Zealand

Pan-Seared Duck Breast with Bourbon Poached Cherries

Duck Breast: pan seared to get that deliciously crispy skin and finished in the oven
Cherries: macerated cherries in sugar, lemon juice, and bourbon mixed with the duck pan sauce (chicken stock, shallots, red wine, corn starch)
Haricot Verts: sautéed in rendered duck fat with shallots, salt, and pepper
Wine Pairing: Primicia Reserva 2001, Rioja
